Wishing over the spilled blood of newborns this Canada Day

This might have been more apropos yesterday, but since it is holiday Monday (and we here at Meme-land have a Canada Day BBQ to go to later on, which means we're still celebrating), we thought this still might be relevant.

There’s a big hoo-haw in Facebook-land over the Great Canadian Wish List, which is a project started up by our very own CBC asking what it is that we want on Canada Day. Problem is, it got high-jacked by the militant right-wing.

The top wishes have now been made available by the CBC and, of course, right up top is Ban Abortion with more than 9,000 votes. Item number three is for a spiritual revival of our nation. Fourth was banning gay marriage.

Maybe it goes to show you that the right wing exert influence in Facebook land, and maybe Facebook really is, like our last missive reported, the place for the white, conservative middle-class.
