Under the Radar

radarfarms.jpgSomething that crossed my desk: A new beta service out of Toronto called RadarFarms. I really didn't get this at first, but it turns out that this is a service that's going to allow for subject-specific RSS feeds to be embedded on third party Web sites.

This is so cool.

Could it be that various corporations or non-profit organizations will start to keep their own 'news feed' of blogs that they like or are allied with? If so, that might help RSS to pick up in popularity and give newbies their first taste of Web syndication. It'll make Web sites or blogs become, in effect, little mini-newsletters allowing people to check out cool stuff around the Web. And I think this means that naysayers might eventually be forced to take back their words with regards to whether or not RSS will ever go mainstream. Maybe. (Thanks to TechCanuck Podcast for that link.)

Incidentally, if you're a jobseeker in the tech world, seems that they might be hiring -- but there might not be a lot of money in it, given that they're looking at students as hired help:

We are in a need to develop a widget to embed NewsRadars - subject-specific RSS-based information channels - into 3rd party Web Sites. The skillset required is quite basic - HTML, Java Script. Students are welcome.
