Technorati has refreshed their image in conjunction with their third birthday, and in doing so, they of course attracted a massive amount of attention. One of the most important improvements for me is the increased responsiveness that they attribute to major backend updates they have released.

Sifry's Alerts has a great overview of the changes, as well as a screencast about the new design.
Liz Strauss says her piece on the new design and features.
Google Blogscoped shows off the various designs of Technorati leading up to the latest design.
I have to admit, I am very impressed with the new design, but as long as there are less timeouts, I am happy.

I don't know what it is with major redesigns lately but I hate them all. Technorati has taken a giant leap toward the microsoftification of its brand. I think the new site completely lacks the innovative feel and flavour of the previous version. Yahoo too. The new Yahoo design stinks as well. I like the old one better, it was more slick and had less of those 'clip art' looking icons which both Technorati and Yahoo seem to be falling in love with them all over again like its 1996.
