Respectance

Warning this post is all about me.

A NEW PROJECT IS AFOOT!
I am accepting a job at Respectance. Respectance is an online social networking site dedicated to helping individuals mark milestones and pay tribute to the great people in their lives. Having just lost my granny and having fought to get copies of the family photos, I thought this project was extremely interesting. Basically you can upload memories, photos and videos of loved ones and share this space with your family and friends- who are probably spread out across multiple continents. They can then add their memories and photos. The site can be either private or public and it allows you to keep a shared and accessible record of the great moments in your life - records that cannot be destroyed by a flooded basement, an overzealous dog or an absent-minded family member. Plus an interesting feature for my family is that it can even help overcome language barriers that exist between the generation before me and the generation after me. As long I've put down my thoughts, the English speakers will always have a record of what my Japanese grandma and their great grandmother was like. It's interesting to think of the web as a permanent record, but I guess this was the whole reason it was created in the first place.
