Microsoft Soapbox

soapbox.jpgFor a while now I have been wondering when Microsoft was going to get into the user-generated video sharing realm, and it seems when the world is still a buzz about the Google/YouTube news, they decided to quietly launch a beta of Soapbox.

You can expect much of the same features as their competitors, including the ability to tag videos and comment on them and videos can easily be located based on tags or popularity.

One nice feature that Soapbox adds is the ability to browse the catalog of videos without stopping the current video you are watching.

It will be interesting to see if copyright-infringing material starts popping up all over the site, but so far, it has not been too bad, with a couple of cartoon clips.

As always is the case lately, Microsoft has come late to the party, and really should just go home and turn off the lights.
