Landscape Advertising

artfield.jpgI'm always intrigued by new forms of advertising, and in the case of landscape advertising, it's anything but new. How many cities have you entered and been greeted by a landscaped "Welcome to ______" etched on a grassy patch along the highway? Companies have also tatooed their logos on land in front of their office complexes for decades. However, with competition for eyeballs at an all-time high, marketers continue to look for out-of-the-box ways to get more brand impressions. With the rise of high-res Google Maps surfing and some untapped rural land near airports, companies continue to embrace this old form of advertising. A German company called ArtField specializes in making these land-based installations for companies like Budget Rent a Car, Unicef and Swissair. I'm sure it is only a matter of time before airbrush artists are consistently contracted to do logo/branding installations on top of the more frequently searched/flown-over landmark rooftops.
