Jen Gould + Facebook = Juno Nomination!

Toronto's Jen Gould is not your average Canadian vocalist. She was an accomplished actor, dancer and artist before she began making beautiful music for children. Prior to the release of her debut hit album 'Music Soup', Jen Gould was packing audiences in theatres across Canada and off Broadway for years and perhaps was best known for her numerous lead roles at the Stratford Festival where she spent five successful seasons.

In 2007, Jen Gould focused her multi-faceted talents and attention on making and performing children's music. The culmination of her efforts resulted in her debut album entitled 'Music Soup', a collection of 17 original songs - yes - she wrote the music and lyrics for the entire album!

With debut CD in hand and live performances booked in several cities the word was starting to spread that 'Music Soup' was a highly addictive and enjoyable listen for kids of all ages. Then Jen Gould's husband Hayes got a brilliant idea - why not start a Facebook group for 'Music Soup' that could bring Jen and her growing fan-base together for more interaction, and that's when the Music Soup pot began to stir into overdrive. Through the Facebook group, a children's clothing retailer got wind of her CD and ordered 10,000+ for an in-store promotion. With more word-of-mouth power stoked by Facebook friends, orders for thousands more poured in. To date, over 20,000 CDs have now been sold!

Jen Gould's 'Music Soup' story took another amazing turn just a few weeks ago with the news that 'Music Soup' had been nominated for a Juno Award - 'Children's Album of the Year'. It doesn't get any better than that! Jen Gould will be taking her Music Soup and the spirit of a growing wave of young fans to Calgary in hopes of capping off an incredible story with a Juno Award win.
