Google Trends Launches

The ultimate way to watch something viral, Google Trends lets you track how often a search term has been entered into Google, and even compare up to five search terms at a time, including information on important events that might have effected the search term.

Steve Rubel of Micro Persuasion has said that this is the bookmark to have if you are a PR or marketing person.

This tool is a must-bookmark for every PR person and marketer worldwide. Search is so important to how brands are perceived. As I noted earlier today, it's critical to understand how people are searching for you and your competitors. The news volume tool is an awesome value add for PR measurement.

I think this is a great tool, but it could still use some work. It has been noted that the tool does not really collect information from blogs, and that could be a boom area for Google, as bloggers would probably enjoy this tool most of all to see trends in people posting about articles they have written and whatnot.
