Check Your Mail Online: Remote Control Mail

A Washington based company, Document Command Inc. has launched a service called Remote Control Mail where you have your mail sent to them and they scan the outside of it and provide a web interface to quickly sort through bills, letters and magazines.

Users of the service are able to quickly view the front of anything sent to them and choose between having the items shredded, recycled, archived, opened and scanned or forwarded to wherever they are in the physical world. Future features may include the ability to deposit checks to your bank account and automatically apply signatures to documents with just a few clicks.

The service starts at a monthly fee of $19.95 USD per month for up to 5 named mail recipients after paying an activation fee of $25. I can see this service taking off, much like a spam filter.
