Canadian NowPublic Purchases Guy Kawasaki's Truemors

Vancouver-based citizen journalism site NowPublic just announced acquisition of Guy Kawasaki's Truemors. Says NowPublic CEO Len Brody, "Truemorists are digging in the four corners of the web for the status of the rumor mill at any moment. It will drive leads to our members for stories going on around the world and give our readers a look at what’s bubbling under the hood."

How I built a Web 2.0, User-Generated Content, Citizen Journalism, Long-Tail, Social Media Site for $12,107.09

The above slide show illustrates how Guy Kawasaki, original Apple marketing guru and successful entrepreneur / VC, started Truemors for only $12,000. Tech forums are aghast at the NowPublic acquisition citing the National Inquirers' original review naming Truemors " the worst website ever". However, the fact that Guy Kawasaki is joining the board of NowPublic means that the Vancouver-based start up can leverage the contacts of one of Silicon Valley's most recognizable venture capitalists. (A deal worth far more than Truemors' membership base or site components) It's likely that Canadian VCs will lineup just to sit next to Guy at benefit dinners. It appears that Northern tech has truly arrived.
