Bubbleshare Blows Up?

bubbleshare.gif

Mark Evans' blog is reporting that Toronto's Kaboose Inc., which offers a Web portal for kids, has just snapped up photosharing Web site, Bubbleshare, for a nifty $2.25 million.

This is hardly a Google-YouTube type deal, and one that doesn't have quite the punch that it would had News Corp. actually bought the company for $5 million, which was originally being speculated. However, this being Canada, anything that has six zeros behind a one or a two is bound to be news and buzz-worthy.

While this move seems to be a good fit for both firms, Kaboose Inc. may have their work cut out for them as I'm not sure if kids are going to automatically use the service just because it is being offered on their portal. And the Bubbleshare angle of 'we're user-friendly' doesn't really cut it for me; kids know how to program PVRs from the time they get out of the womb these days, or so it seems. But it will be interesting to see where Kaboose does go with this, marketing-wise, and if any other companies follow suit with similar acquisitions.
